“First Tennessee is proud to support the Senior Crimestoppers program,” says Carol Yochem, First Tennessee president, Middle Tennessee. “They are an important resource in providing safety to the elderly residents of our communities. We look forward to a productive partnership.”

NASHVILLE, Tenn., Jan. 10, 2017 — First Tennessee Bank has announced a partnership with Senior Crimestoppers to aid vulnerable seniors throughout the state and has renewed a $1 million investment to the organization for expansion into two new senior facilities. Through this partnership, senior residents in Middle Tennessee nursing homes and assisted living facilities will learn about ways to maintain safer living environments.

Through a coordinated set of components designed create a zero tolerance environment for crime, Senior Crimestoppers combats the trend of crime against the elderly by helping to make residences secure for low to moderate income seniors. Components include cash rewards up to $1,000 paid anonymously for information about wrongdoing of any kind, personal lockboxes for the residents, and effective, on-going education and training for staff members and residents.

Thanks to these proactive efforts, Senior Crimestoppers has reduced all aspects of crime in participating facilities by 94 percent.

“First Tennessee is proud to support the Senior Crimestoppers program,” says Carol Yochem, First Tennessee president, Middle Tennessee. “They are an important resource in providing safety to the elderly residents of our communities. We look forward to a productive partnership.”

Two facilities in Middle Tennessee — Heartland Christian Tower in Nashville and Westbrook Towers in Murfreesboro — will host the first regional Senior Crimestoppers Charter Presentations, which will provide valuable information to seniors on residential and personal safety.

“Senior Crimestoppers is a way for senior facility administrators to enhance the lives of the residents they serve. These administrators work very hard to provide safe, secure, comfortable living environments – their desire to implement the program is just one more example of this. Implementing this program does not mean that the facility has a crime problem, but that the administrator is proactively finding a way to keep problems from occurring,” said Terry Rooker, president of Senior Crimestoppers.
